Reuters is reporting that French game publisher Titus Interactive has gained control of US-based Interplay Entertainment Corp by increasing its stake in the company to more than 51 percent. Titus now has the power to elect a new board of directors for Interplay at the company's annual meeting next month, completing the takeover process.
Earlier this year, Titus was considering selling its 34 percent stake in Interplay, prompting Interplay to enter negotiations aimed at selling the company to an unnamed buyer. Titus later decided against selling its stake, eliminating the possibility of Interplay being sold at that time.
Representatives from Titus and Interplay were not available for comment.
