Just because we haven't seen much of the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall to date is not a reason to worry that the last-gen version of Respawn Entertainment's multiplayer shooter is going to be a second-rate experience, according to Microsoft marketing executive Yusuf Mehdi.
Speaking with Polygon, Mehdi stressed that Titanfall for Xbox 360 must deliver a great experience because Microsoft's past-gen console has a far greater reach than the Xbox One right now, with more than 80 million consoles sold compared to 3 million for the Xbox One.
"I think we struck the right balance--it was Respawn, really, and the developer who struck the balance--which is, it will play great on Xbox 360," Mehdi said. "Believe me, we are thrilled about it. Xbox 360 is in, obviously, all the markets including the top 13 with Xbox One; we're in 48-plus markets for [Xbox 360]. For many markets, that will be the game. So, we've worked together to have that be a first-class experience."
"At the same time, on Xbox One you can get some of those extra features that set it apart, and there will be people who want to do that, and there will be enough encouragement to go," he added. "But it will be a great experience on Xbox 360."
Titanfall for Xbox 360 is currently in development at Bluepoint Games and will launch on March 25. The game was originally targeted to launch today alongside the Xbox One and PC versions, but EA delayed the game in early February so Bluepoint could "put the finishing touches on the game."
The game's $25 DLC season pass will be available for Xbox 360 players to purchase at launch. It includes access to three content packs, though it's unclear right now what these will contain.
