Tiger Telematics today announced the acquisition of Warthog, a UK-based independent game developer. The $1.1 million deal is assumed to bring Warthog's game library to Tiger Telematics' Gizmondo handheld system while strengthening Tiger's overall position in the game industry. The Gizmondo mobile gaming device, which launched in UK stores today, may also benefit from Tusk, Warthog's proprietary game-engine-porting software, allowing for quick conversion of games to the handheld format.
Warthog's previous efforts include Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Mace Griffin Bounty Hunter, and Looney Tunes: Back in Action. Warthog's first game for Gizmondo, Richard Burns Rally, will be on display this weekend at the Best of Stuff show in London.
A global release of the handheld system is planned for 2005.
