Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars for the Sony PlayStation was released by THQ to North American retailers on Tuesday.
Developed by Revolution Software, the cloak-and-sword adventure game casts you as George Stobbard, a young American in Paris. After seeing a mysterious clown swap an accordion for a briefcase outside a bistro (who'd want an accordion?), the explosion that erupts from the valise throws George headfirst into a plot filled with intrigue and danger.
The game's plot circles around the Knights Templar, an order of 14th century monks sworn to protect the Holy Land and the Holy Grail. According to some, the secret society disbanded, but many think it still exists. As George gets deeper into the plot, he discovers that a group of fascists may have stolen a manuscript that possesses some secret of a mad plot to change the world.
The game features over 60 hours of gameplay and hand-drawn animation sequences running at a full 30 frames per second.
If you're looking for a bit of adventure for your PlayStation with a touch of history, this might be up your alley.
