Though it was recently confirmed that Thief for PC will not support AMD's "groundbreaking" Mantle graphics API until sometime in March, developer of the console version Eidos Montreal believes the computer iteration of the upcoming stealth-action reboot is going to be "amazing."
Speaking with GameSpot as part of our Thief Now Playing feature, Eidos Montreal producer Stephane Roy said, "Honestly, if you're a PC gamer, you're going to be in love with [this] version." This is because developer Nixxes Software is "really, really good," he explained.
"They are going to have a PC version, not a port," Roy said. "The PC version looks amazing also. The PC version is very solid." Nixxes Software, based in the Netherlands, previously worked on the PC versions of Hitman Absolution and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The studio also contributed to the recently released Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition for Xbox One PlayStation 4.
Gamers who pick up the PC version of Thief can also expect a range of options, Roy said.
"All the PC options you can imagine are there," Roy said, except Mantle, which will arrive sometime in March via a patch.
You can check out the system requirements for the PC version of Thief below. Eidos Montreal previously said that the PC version of Thief will look better than the Xbox One and PS4 iterations. You'll soon be able to decide for yourself, as the game launches tomorrow in North America and on Friday in Europe. Our review goes live today at 9 a.m. EDT.
