Warning: The following trailer and post contain minor spoilers for The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 1.
The Walking Dead: The Final Season is being billed as series protagonist Clementine’s final story, which is worrisome to say the least. Happy endings are a very rare thing in the Walking Dead universe, and Clem and her young charge AJ seem to be heading down a bad path. The latest trailer for The Final Season spells it out pretty explicitly – AJ is an increasingly dangerous liability and he’s going to cost Clementine her life, just like she cost Lee everything back in Season One. Will Clem and AJ defy the odds? Let’s hope so, but it is isn’t looking good. You can check out the trailer for The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 2 “Suffer the Children”, below.
Here’s a brief Suffer the Children synopsis, courtesy of Telltale:
A single shot rang out, and in that moment, everything changed. Now Clementine's chance for a home may already be lost, and her bond with AJ may never be the same. With their future suddenly poisoned by uncertainty, Clem must work to manage the fallout and salvage their situation. But a force more relentless than the dead is lurking in the woods, and a ghost from Clementine's past will soon return to threaten her future.
I found The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 1 to be an impressive return to form for Telltale (check out the full review here) and eagerly look forward to the next chapter…
“The debut episode of The Walking Dead: The Final Season is one of Telltale Games’ best efforts in quite some time. It builds its cast of likeable new characters with uncommon skill, lets you feel a glimmer of hope, and then tears it all down in devastating fashion. I’m afraid of what might come next for Clementine and AJ, but I can’t look away…The Final Season has already sunk its teeth into me.”
The Walking Dead: The Final Season Episode 2 shambles onto PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch on September 25.
