There is no stopping the runaway train that is the Nintendo 64, at least in terms of video game rentals.
GoldenEye 007 remains at the top of the charts, and the only third-party title to even come close to it is Acclaim's NFL Quarterback Club, which ended up earning around half of what Bond did. Wave Race reappears on the chart this week at number five, showing that title's strength, and Super Mario 64, the oldest of the N64 titles on the chart, came in a respectable number three.
For the curious, here's the chart of the top five renting videos (from the Video Software Dealer's Association VidTrac system) for the week ending Jan. 18, 1998:
(title, weeks in release, revenues) 1 GoldenEye 007 (21) $364,540
2 Mario Kart (48) $243,330
3 Super Mario (74) $193,320
4 NFL Quarterback Club '98 (11) $187,480
5 Wave Race (66) $181,320
