The Outlast Trials can be quite an intense game, full of traps and enemies to escape from. Your character will probably die a few times in the trials, especially during the first hours, as you have yet to learn all the different maps well, and many enemies will look for you. However, you can unlock some special items, called Rigs, and use them to your advantage in the game.
These won’t be available as soon as you start playing The Outlast Trials, but getting them doesn’t take long. Trials will become more demanding as you progress in the game, and having some advantages will surely help you in the long run. In this guide, you will find all the information you need about Rigs in The Outlast Trials and how to unlock them.
You have four types of Rigs to choose from: Stun, Blind, Heal, and X-Ray. Each needs to be unlocked before being equipped, and this will cost you one green Voucher. These are collected after leveling up and completing trials with high grades. Every Rig can be further upgraded by getting additional perks that will enhance their effects. Upgrades also cost Vouchers, and you must unlock them in their standard order to progress to the next tier. Here’s a brief description of each Rig’s effect in The Outlast Trials.
Stun: this device emits an electric shock that temporarily stuns and disorients your foes.Blind: this landmine can be triggered by the enemies, emitting a temporarily blinding explosion of smoke.Heal: this aerosol gas replenishes your health and the health of any nearby friend you are playing with.X-Ray: this tactical enhancement allows you to see through walls and spot the enemies’ location.
You can use your Rig during a trial based on your needs. Just select and activate it. Remember, however, that every Rig comes with a cooldown, so you can’t just spam it within a match. You must wait unless you find the Rig Recharger, a valuable item that will reset the cooldown.
Unlocking upgrades will further enhance the Rigs’ effectiveness. You should focus on the ones you use the most, so you will be ready for more challenging trials. If you need additional help with The Outlast Trials, you can check our beginner’s tips and a guide on how to slide.
