Quake II is already getting attention from competition organizers.
Julianne Gentile, who serves as the host of the Quake area on the Mining Company site, organized the first Queen of the Hill all-female Quake tournament. Now she has announced registration for Queen of the Hill II, a Quake II all-female tourney.
Gentile thinks the newness of Quake II will work to her tournament's advantage. "Since the game is so new, I believe we are on a more even ground," she says, "so that gives everyone an equal opportunity to excel, rather than having one or two stars come forward and steal the show. The idea is to encourage more women to get out and compete and have a good time, like a 'girls night out' affair.
Registration continues through Jan. 31. Gentile says QOTH II play will commence in late February. ("When the software is ready, we will be as well," she says.)
