Grand Theft Auto: Vice City has dominated the UK sales charts ever since it was released over a month ago, fighting off challenges from the likes of Harry Potter, FIFA, The Lord of the Rings, and even James Bond. There's only one game that was ever going to stand a chance of stealing the number-one position with its first week's sales, and SCEE's much-anticipated The Getaway has done just that.

　　Elsewhere in this week's chart, the majority of games have simply slipped down a single position to accommodate Sony's London-based action game at the top. Perhaps thanks to the popularity of the recently released DVD of the movie, Spider-Man: The Movie has reentered the chart at number 14, while Grand Theft Auto III has also found its way back in at number 19, perhaps appeasing Vice City fans who have finished that game and need to fill the void left in their lives with something other than The Getaway.
