"You can disable certain lighting aspects to improve frame rates in the console versions," an Ubisoft developer said as part of this Team Epiphany preview (via NeoGAF). "I don't know of another game that does that. So if you want to choose frame rate over visuals, you can if you want."

The ability to change graphical settings is nothing new on PC. Though the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of The Division will let you do this, the PC version will offer more.

"One good thing about The Division is we've always considered the PC as a separate platform," the developer went on to say. "We do have to keep it in check with the consoles; it would be kind of unfair to push it so far away from them. But it's been good having a dedicated PC build for this game."

"I'm really happy that we're pushing the PC build as much as we are; there's a lot more customized options than the console."

Some of the graphical settings console players can tweak include chromatic aberration and the ability to sharpen images. This is a slider that impacts the amount of anti-aliasing that's present.

You can see how the game looks with these various settings over at Eurogamer, which originally reported the news about The Division's console visual settings earlier in the week.

The Division is the first game from Ubisoft Massive that runs on the developer's new proprietary Snowdrop Engine.

After multiple delays, The Division's full release is now scheduled for March 8. An Xbox One bundle featuring a 1 TB system and a copy of the game will be available at launch. Additionally, you can get the game for free with the purchase of a new Logitech mechanical keyboard.

In other news about The Division, modders have already cranked up the game's visuals on PC.
