Terminal Reality and Gathering of Developers have just announced an off-road racing game for the Dreamcast, Mac, and PC. Called 4x4 Evolution, the game will use GameSpy's peer-to-peer technology, making it possible for players with a Dreamcast to compete against someone on a PC or Mac.
"4x4 Evolution is a very unique game in that it will be the first third-party development game with online capabilities," said Mark Randel, president of Terminal Reality. "This online technology supports connections between players using a Sega Dreamcast, Mac, or PC version of 4x4 Evolution, thus allowing gamers to compete head-to-head with each other, regardless of platform."
4x4 Evolution will feature more than 16 tracks, each littered with a number of obstacles such as gates, trees, and tractors. The game will release simultaneously for all three platforms later this summer.
