THIS STORY CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR TELLTALE'S GAME OF THRONES SERIES

Telltale's Game of Thrones episodic series is getting a second season. CEO Kevin Bruner confirmed the news as part of Hollywood Reporter interview published today. The confirmation comes just days after the game's sixth and final episode in the original season, The Ice Dragon, was released on November 17.

"I'm pleased to officially confirm that there will be a second season of Telltale's Game of Thrones series, and that it's currently in development," he said.

Continuing the story for a second season was always the plan, Bruner explained. He didn't divulge much about what's going to happen in the upcoming season, but offered a brief tease.

"Things rarely go well in the Game of Thrones universe, and there is always a price to be paid for playing" -- Bruner

"The questions left on the table at the conclusion of season one, who survived and who didn't, as well as all the other choices you made play a huge role in the second season," he said.

"Things rarely go well in the Game of Thrones universe, and there is always a price to be paid for playing," he added. "Indeed the Forresters did have a very rough time in season one, but there is a larger story to be played out. What may seem like small victories after the downfall of Ironrath are important ones. The choices players make in season one set the stage for what's to come."

The first season of Telltale's Game of Thrones series let players control five different characters to see how the story unfolds from multiple perspectives. Bruner said you can expect the second season to follow the same formula, though he wouldn't say if the number of playable characters will expand or shrink.

"Making a game where you play five different characters was certainly challenging, but you can't tell a great Game of Thrones story without seeing things from different perspectives," he said. "We'll continue to have fun with multiple perspectives in season two, but I can't divulge exactly how right now."

Episodes in the first season of Telltale's Game of Thrones series were released for consoles, PC, and mobile. Presumably the same will be true for the second. For more on the first season, check out GameSpot's reviews below.
