We have a bunch of new information on Tekken 7 as the Bandai Namco fighting game is starting location testing in Japan.
In this video, uploaded by YouTube user Abdul-Ghaffar Allaf, you can see one previously unannounced character named Claudio, and in this video you can see another newcomer to Tekken 7, Katarina.
We also know that Bandai Namco is testing some fundamental changes to the Tekken formula. Two new additions in Tekken 7 are Rage Arts and Power Crush. With Rage Arts, players can enter fighter-specific commands to initiate a Rage State, which increases attack damage and grants access to special moves. Power Crush, meanwhile, are special moves that can't be interrupted by attacks, but that still leaves you open to taking damage. You can use them as much as you want, but at the risk of dwindling your health bar.
According to Siliconera, Tekken 7 will also feature some fighter customization items.
As we reported when Tekken 7 was first announced, it will use Unreal Engine 4, and you can see its logo displayed prominently in the videos, but Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada said that what we can see now doesn't represent the final product. He said that the game's graphics are "60 percent" finished, and that they don't yet include character lighting, skin shaders, and other features.
In early August, Harada revealed another potential new fighter when he asked players for feedback on its design.
Tekken 7 is set to hit arcades in Japan next year, but we still don't have a date for a console release.
