TOKYO--Tecmo announced today that it would be bringing back Deception, a horror series that was first released on the PlayStation in 1996. While Tecmo has been silent about a Deception sequel since the last release in the series five years ago, the company announced today that it is developing a new installment for the PlayStation 2.
Slated for release in Japan this winter, the new Deception sequel is titled Kagero II: Dark Illusion. Kagero was the title of the second installment of Deception in Japan, so it's likely that there will be a relationship between the two games.
Kagero II: Dark Illusion will have an atmosphere reminiscent of medieval Europe. Starting with a mansion in a black forest where demons are rumored to live, the player will be setting traps in various areas, such as a royal palace or an abandoned old castle, depending on the player's selection and the progression of the game's storyline. The player's objective in the game is to defeat intruders by setting various traps.
No specific details have been announced as of yet, but fans of the series should keep an eye on the teaser site that went live earlier today.
