989 Studios announced Friday morning that its online futuristic multiplayer tank combat game Tanarus will be available for free for one weekend, starting Friday July 10 at 12:00pm PST and ending on Sunday July 12 at 12:00am PST.
The main game is downloadable and available in stores for about US$20, and a monthly subscription rate is $9.95.
"Offering a free weekend of Tanarus is a two-fold proposition," said Jefferey Fox, vice president of marketing, 989 Studios. "First, it is our way of saying 'thank you' to the online gamers who have made Tanarus one of the most popular online combat games, and second, the Tanarus free weekend provides an opportunity for the casual and novice gamer to experience action-packed, Internet-based multiplayer gaming at no cost."
