Is poker really a sport? The folks over at ESPN seem to think so, as they watch the ratings skyrocket for the roughly 20 million poker shows they run daily. It looks like Take-Two agrees, as its 2K Sports development label has signed a deal to publish games based on The World Poker Tour television series, which currently airs on the Travel Channel. Personally, I have a hard time thinking of the sunglasses-boasting behemoths I've watched deal chips on ESPN 2 as "athletes." Furthermore, why would you want to buy a poker video game when a deck of cards costs, what, five bucks? Maybe it's just me...
What's your take? Is poker a sport or a hobby; a test of skill or a shady way to make a wad of dough?
