NovaLogic announced today that Tachyon: The Fringe is now available in retail stores in North America. Tachyon combines fast-paced space-combat action with adventure-game elements in its story-driven single-player experience. The multiplayer component features Base Wars, a game emphasizing strategy and teamwork, and Arena Match, a deathmatch-style free-for-all. Multiplayer games can support more than 100 players per game via NovaWorld, NovaLogic's free Internet gaming service.
Key features of Tachyon: The Fringe include starbases and warships that serve as tactical terrain, an epic story in which you can choose to play on either side, 11 flyable ships, online multiplayer support, 3dfx Glide and Direct3D hardware-acceleration support, and the voice talent of Bruce Campbell, who supplies hero Jake Logan with more than 800 lines of dialogue.
Tachyon: The Fringe's estimated retail price is US$39.95.
