While Dario Argento might not be a household name, amongst horror fans, he is one of the most revered directors of the past few decades. Classic movies from the '70s and '80s such as Deep Red, Inferno, and Tenebrae combined strange, dreamlike plotting, gory violence, and incredible visual style. They are so distinctive that it's taken until 2018 for anyone to attempt to remake one. But in October, the long-awaited remake of his 1977 masterpiece Suspiria hits theaters, and a new trailer has arrived.
Suspiria is directed by Luca Guadagnino, who is best known for dramas such as last year's Oscar-winning Call Me By Your Name. The Suspiria remake stars Dakota Johnson (50 Shades of Grey, The Social Network) as an American girl who comes to Berlin in the 1970s to study ballet and discovers that her dance school in fact a home for a coven of witches. The new trailer is very dark and spooky, with a few very nasty bits and a score composed by Radiohead's Thom Yorke. Check it out above.

The movie also stars Tilda Swinton (Doctor Strange), Chloe Grace Moretz (The Equalizer), and Mia Goth (A Cure for Wellness), and it hits theaters on October 26. Last month, Guadagnino spoke about the experience of showing the movie for the first time to one of his friends--Pulp Fiction director Quentin Tarantino. "We've been friends since our jury duty at the Venice Film Festival," Guadagnino said, via Indiewire. “I was nervous but eager to hear his advice. We saw it at his place and his reaction warmed me.
"He was enthusiastic about it. In the end he was crying and hugged me. Because it's a horror movie but also a melodrama, my goal was to make you look at the horror without being able to take [your eyes off the screen] because you're captivated by the characters."
