Microsoft today announced pricing information for its Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablets, revealing the device will be available beginning at $900 for a 64GB model. A 128GB version will launch at $1000. Both iterations of the tablet device go on sale sometime in January 2013.
Both versions of the Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablets include a Surface pen and are also compatible with Touch and Type covers. These are available separately for for $120 and $130, respectively.
Writing on the official Microsoft blog, Surface general manager Panos Panay also revealed specifications for the Intel-powered device. The Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablets run on a Core i5 processor and feature a 10.6" 9 ClearType display with 1920X1080 high-definition resolution.
The tablet line also includes a full-sized USB 3.0 port and a Mini DisplayPort that is compatible with external displays with up to 2560X1440 resolution. It will weigh "less than two pounds" and measure 14 millimeters in thickness.
The Surface with Windows 8 Pro tablet line follows Microsoft's already released Surface RT line, which begins at $500. The newest iPad starts at $500.
