Italian developer Winter Wolves has released Supernova: Galactic Wars, a strategy-based sci-fi shooter for the PC and Mac. The game is available via download from the Winter Wolves Web site for $19.95.
Players will be able to choose between two sides, the Red Legion and Blue Army, and take control of a fleet of spaceships in gameplay that is a combination of chess and an arcade shooter. The movement of ships is turn-based, and when two enemies occupy the same space, the action turns into an arcade-style shoot-'em-up.
There are 20 ships to choose from (10 per side), and each ship is outfitted with three different grades of firepower. There are two modes to choose from: a story mode that consists of 10 different missions, and a quickbattle mode that lets gamers set up their own fight, choosing between five different maps and building their fleets from scratch.
A free demo is also available, allowing users to play three missions as either side and quickbattle with limited options.
