The latest monthly report from SuperData Research is in and once again, Epic's Fortnite made the headlines. According to the research firm, Fortnite is now the largest free-to-play console game of all time in both MAU (Monthly Active Users) and revenue generated.
Furthermore, in March the game managed to generate $223 million across all platforms, a 73% increase over the month of February. Last but not least, Fortnite hit the #1 spot by revenue on iOS charts in the United States and registered the highest conversion rate of any PC free-to-play game in March.
As you can see from the chart below, Far Cry 5 was also a big winner last month, selling an estimated 2.5 million digital units; on consoles, the game's digital sales went up almost 500% compared to the previous franchise installment (Far Cry Primal).
The rest of the chart is pretty much unvaried, with the exception of Sea of Thieves. Rare's game registered about 2 million MAU (Monthly Active Users), with 1.7 million of those on Xbox One, which is certainly a strong start. That said, the report highlights how more than half of those users got the game via the Xbox Game Pass trial, which doesn't bode very well for the game's long-term population.
