Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is the newest game from Rocksteady Studios, the acclaimed developer of the Batman: Arkham series. At the DC FanDome event, a new trailer for the title was shown, and although it didn't provide any insight into gameplay, it was a good showcase of the overall humorous mood and tone of what Rocksteady is going for.
The setup isn't all that different from most stories involving Taskforce X. Once again, Amanda Waller puts together a team of criminals that are sent on a suicide mission with the promise of freedom should they succeed. This suicide mission, however, involves killing off the Justice League, which the odds of achieving feel slim. The trailer begins in Arkham Asylum, a setting which will be familiar--and looks very familiar--to fans of Rocksteady's Batman games.

Now Playing: Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Official Story Trailer
The squad Waller puts together is Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark. The madness begins in Metropolis, home of Superman, where it looks like an invasion has taken place. Given the look of the spacecraft, the purple energy firing off all over the place, and the alien monsters appearing, this could all be the work of Brainiac, a supervillain that has crossed paths with Superman and the Justice League many times.
In one scene a giant monster is shown towering over Taskforce X but is unceremoniously stabbed by a giant sword. Interestingly, all the members of the team are shown on-screen before the monster is stabbed, indicating that the crew might have some help on their side during the mission. This, of course, is unsurprising given that this kind of invasion would bring together many other heroes, but it'll be interesting to see which characters from the wider DC universe make surprise appearances.
This is also the first trailer that gives us a good look at most of the Justice League. The previous trailer showed off Superman, and he once again appears in this trailer firing beams from his eyes, while also looking corrupted in some fashion. Flash makes an appearance, taking a prominent speaking role in the trailer giving Taskforce X some smack talk. Green Lantern also makes his debut--it looks like Rocksteady has picked John Stewart as the Lantern for its universe--and Wonder Woman also kicks some ass during the video.
One thing that is a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment is that Superman, at one point, is shown as being pinned down and kicking someone off him. It looks like that person is Wonder Woman, which means she could also be the person that kills the monster earlier and has somehow not been corrupted by whatever has affected the other members of the Justice League.

You may have noticed there is one major omission from the Justice League's ranks thus far: Batman. He doesn't seem to appear in the trailer and that may be because he's, technically, supposed to be dead. Suicide Squad: Kills The Justice League takes place in the same universe as Rocksteady's Batman: Arkham series, which concluded with Bruce Wayne seemingly being killed in an explosion at Wayne Manor. A secret ending suggested that this was a ruse and that he was actually killing off Bruce Wayne to fully embrace the Batman persona, but the implication is that the world believes he's dead.
Rocksteady's Sefton Hill previously said that some of the narrative threads established in the Arkham trilogy will be picked up in Suicide Squad, but he didn't share specifics.
Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is a 1-4 player co-op game, though you can play single-player and have your companions played by AI and switch between them. The game is expected to launch for PS5, Xbox Series S and X, and PC in 2022.
