Sudden Strike is a World War II real-time strategy game currently in development in Germany. The game features French, German, American, Russian, and British units (more are being planned for inclusion later on), all of which boast a high level of detail. The graphics and animation also deserve special recognition, even at this early stage. One such effect that caught our attention was the rocket launchers, which look quite impressive.
Another impressive aspect of Sudden Strike is the number of units the engine will be able to display onscreen. The game's publisher, CDV, promises to have upwards of 1,000 units on a map at any given time with no effect on the frame rate. Ambitious? Yes. But we'll wait for Sudden Strike's release before passing judgement.
CDV is keeping the development team of the title secret for now, but we'll have more information as soon as the release date in Europe approaches. The game is supposed to make its way to the States around February. Keep checking back for the final release date.
