Steam silenced by blizzard
Steam silenced by blizzard-November 2024
Nov 25, 2024 7:54 PM

Blizzard, 1, Steam, nada. But no, not that blizzard. A real-life storm currently buffeting the Pacific Northwest has put the Steam servers temporarily out of commission, rendering gameplay and access to the forums impossible. While Steam has yet to reply to GameSpot News e-mails confirming the situation, reports of the outtage from readers, as well as futile attempts to connect to Steam servers from the newsroom at GameSpot, provide evidence the servers are down. Steam is the Valve-built download service that excels in selling games in digital format to gamers worldwide, as well as offering a playground for gamers intent on playing titles such as CounterStrike and other Half-Life mods. Current games being touted on the service include Half Life: Episode One, Sid Meier's Pirates!, and Medieval II: Total War, among others. Valve is located in the Seattle suburb of Bellevue, a region that is experiencing a major winter storm today--one that has already left four dead in its wake, according to The Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
