Blizzard has begun rolling out patch 2.1 for eSports staple RTS StarCraft II.
The patch is now available in North America and Europe, with Korea and Taiwan expected to receive the patch today, and Southeast Asia and Oceania getting it tomorrow.
A major change is that the game's custom maps and Arcade modes are now all available to owners of the StarCraft II Starter Edition, which is free to download. The update also makes all three races--the Terran, Zerg, and Protoss--available in the Starter Edition.
Elsewhere in the patch, custom modes can now have Extension Mods applied to them, including Big Game Hunters, the infamous StarCraft variant that makes mineral patches and vespene geysers dish out far more resources than in the main game.
Patch 2.1 also makes the classic StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood War soundtracks available when playing matches of StarCraft II.
