Star Wars TV Show The Mandalorian Gets Visit From MCU Directors
Star Wars TV Show The Mandalorian Gets Visit From MCU Directors-January 2024
Jan 11, 2025 2:52 PM

The live-action Star Wars TV series The Mandalorian is set to be one of the key new shows on Disney+, the upcoming Disney streaming service. The show is currently in production, and writer/producer Jon Favreau has now posted a new image from the set.

Unlike the picture the Favreau released last month of Star Wars creator George Lucas visiting the production, this new picture has more to do with Disney's other huge franchise--the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Favreau directed Iron Man and Iron Man 2--and continues to occasionally act in the MCU as Happy Hogan--and this week he had a visit from several other Marvel directors. The picture shows Favreau with Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), Peyton Reed (Ant-Man and the Wasp), and Joe and Anthony Russo (Avengers: Infinity War). Check it out below.

Reunion on the set of #theMandalorian

While Reed and Russos were presumably just visiting, Waititi is set to direct one of the episodes of The Mandalorian. Other directors who have been announced for the show include Star Wars Rebels creator Dave Filoni, Jurassic World star Bryce Dallas Howard, and Jessica Jones's Deborah Chow.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Narcos and Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal will take on the lead role in The Mandalorian. While no further casting announcements have been made so far, we know that the show will be set after Return of the Jedi, and will follow the adventures of a lone gunfighter. The first image was revealed in October.

In related news, it has also been confirmed that a Star Wars show centered on the character of Cassian Andor is also being lined up for Disney+. Diego Luna will reprise the role he played in 2016's hugely successful Rogue One, and the show has been described by the studio as a "rousing spy thriller" that will "explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire."

Neither The Mandalorion or the Cassian Andor show currently have premiere dates, but Disney+ is expected to launch in late 2019.
