There may be no real cross-media tie-in to speak of, but Nintendo has decided that the time is right to unleash a whole host of Star Wars content on the Wii's Virtual Console. Beginning today, gamers can download Super Star Wars for 800 Wii points, or $8, with Check Mii Out Channel and Everybody Votes Channel contests also running this week. Nintendo expects to release the subsequent two action titles in the Super Nintendo series, Super Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, later this month.
Nintendo also has two original games coming to its WiiWare channel this week. Over the Top Games side-scrolling puzzle-shooter NyzQuest: Kindred Spirits is available for 1,000 Wii points ($10) and sees the angelic Nyx platforming her way through a variety of ancient Grecian levels to rescue her fallen friend, Icarus. NyzQuest: Kindred Spirits supports play for up to two.
Nintendo's Rock N' Roll Climber is the second WiiWare release for the week, and it's available for 800 Wii points, or $8. The single-player game mimics actual rock climbing using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, and it also supports the Wii Balance Board.
On the DSiWare store, handheld gamers can pick up Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters for 800 points. An extension of Nintendo's popular Brain Age franchise, Arts & Letters includes learning-themed minigame challenges, such as Word Attack, Reading Aloud, and Piano Player.
