While Respawn is still actively working to address the apparent performance issues with its Star Wars Jedi sequel, a modder has released a mod that aims to improve performance on some setups.
Yesterday, EA and Respawn released a post-launch patch for the game that aimed to address some of the reported performance issues. Aside from the dev team working to address the remaining performance issues with the title, the community is also working on solutions of its own to reduce stutter and boost performance. Yesterday, we already reported on a rather amazing DLSS 3 mod from modder 'PureDark' that doubled the game's framerate, and today we wanted to share another mod that PC players will appreciate - the "May the Performance be with You" mod from modder 'Glumboi'.
According to the mod's creator, this mod increases FPS and reduces stutters while having only a minor impact on the game's visuals. The modification comes with four presets, including 'Potato PC', normal (Potato textures), normal without TTA and texture changes, and normal 80. The latter is the same as the normal preset but with a higher resolution for TTA. The results of this mod depend on the hardware used, and 'Glumboi' mentions that the performance boost is only noticeable when the player uses either a CPU-bound system or a not-entirely CPU-bound setup. According to the modder, the boost will be more significant for older systems. We've included a part of the mod's description below:
- Normal: A boost from 5-20 FPS depending on your system
- Normal 80: A boost ranging from 3-15 FPS
- Normal (Potato Textures): A boost from 10-25 FPS depending on your system
- Potato PC: This can improve the FPS the most, my 1070 went from 30-ish experience to 60+ all of the time
"The TAA resolution does interact with the upscaling setting, meaning you can get higher fps and perhaps a better-looking image if both are combined", 'Gumboi' writes.
Those interested in giving this mod a spin can download it from Nexusmods here. We guess that PC players that are experiencing performance issues can at least give it a try to see if it somewhat improves their gameplay experience.
Star Wars Jedi Survivor is available globally now for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
