Rumors have spread across the Internet regarding a new Star Wars Episode 1 title in development at LucasArts. Supposedly, this new title will be based on a fighting-game formula, similar to that of the previous Star Wars fighting game, Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi. According to Theforce.net, insiders have hinted that the title for this new game will be Star Wars Power Battles.
GameSpot News spoke with LucasArts today, and while the company could neither confirm nor deny the new fighting title, a spokesperson informed us that we could definitely expect a lot of future announcements from the company regarding new console Star Wars titles. The spokesperson went on to clarify that there are definitely more Star Wars Episode 1 titles to come.
As to which platforms these new Star Wars titles will be released for, LucasArts once again stated that in addition to PlayStation2 support, the company is looking at both the Dreamcast and the Dolphin. While LucasArts has made no official statement regarding an end to current PlayStation support, the spokesperson hinted that future support for the console is unlikely. "We have a huge interest in future platforms," said the spokesperson. Recently, LucasArts silently cancelled the PlayStation version of Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine.
