On Monday, February 28, GameSpot will host the application to beta test Activision's Star Trek Armada, a real-time-strategy game that features the familiar faces and spaceship designs of Star Trek: The Next Generation. The application will be found in GameSpot's Beta Test Center. At the end of the day, 20 lucky applicants will be selected to be the first to sample the game's 26-mission single-player campaign and provide the design team with feedback.
Star Trek Armada uses the same 3D graphics engine both for its fast-paced strategic gameplay and for its rendered cinematics. The campaign will let you command Federation, Klingon, Romulan, and Borg vessels over its duration and will integrate story sequences seamlessly with the gameplay. Star Trek Armada is being developed by veteran real-time-strategy designers, who previously worked on such highly acclaimed games as Dark Reign and Battlezone. Armada is now scheduled for release at the end of March. We'll have a preview of the game next week.
