In an interview with Japan's Famitsu Magazine, Square's Hironobu Sakaguchi and Takashi Tokita talked about Chocobo Racing. According to Sakaguchi, Square is working on four Chocobo games. One is Chocobo Racing and the other is Chocobo no Fushigina Dungeon 2 - a title being developed at Square's Honolulu studio. The other two titles are still in the planning phase.
Unlike typical Square games, these games are focused on fun gameplay rather than astonishing graphics. Square is also seeking a much broader range of players for the games - from elementary school kids to housewives.
Sakaguchi says that Square wants to elevate Chocobo as a corporate mascot and establish Chocobo games as a Square brand that lends its marketing might to games over a broad spectrum of genres.
