As much as I'm not a fan of Activision-Blizzard as a company - I'll always be open and honest about that - they have some IP's that I can't help but love. Spyro the Dragon is one of these IP's, with me having very fond memories of the games. Not only that, I've watched and still watch the endearing Skylanders Academy on Netflix. The star of this, the lovable Spyro, made a return in the Spyro Reignited Trilogy for the PS4 and Xbox One in November last year.
The good news is that he's finally soaring onto the PC and Switch, as revealed by Nintendo during E3. This doesn't come as much of a surprise as it was leaked by Taiwan's ratings board last week.
Spyro Reignited is a true remaster of one of the industries great mascot platformers, one of the few remasters that truly gets it right. With enhanced environments and a remastered soundtrack, updated controls to make the game feel a little more modern and altogether enhanced visuals, cinematics and more to add that extra shine to the game, it's certainly a remaster worth playing.
It's also one of those games that I imagine is perfect to play on the go, on the Nintendo Switch. The screen and console just seem perfectly suited for the trilogy and I have to admit, this could be the first time I spend money on an Activision-Blizzard game since Diablo 3.
Michelle Fonseca, Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at Activision, had this to say about bringing the game to the PC and Switch:
Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a love letter to the fans. Bringing this nostalgic experience to the Nintendo Switch and Steam means that no matter what gaming platform they choose, players will have the opportunity to experience this incredibly fun and iconic game. Our goal is to transport players back to their precious memories from the ‘90s, while also inviting new fans to dive into Spyro’s world on whatever platform they desire.
Spyro Reignited Trilogy is set to launch on the PC and Nintendo Switch on September the 3rd, just under three months to wait.
