While it wasn't exactly the Dreamcast version, Bandai had the original Naomi version of Capcom's Gundam: Federation vs. Zeon on display at its booth. The game plays similarly to Sega's Virtual On, albeit on a much larger scale. Not only are the levels larger, but you can pair up with an ally, and play this game in a two-on-two mode. You can choose from four different Federation mobile suits and 12 Zeon suits, and do battle across a number of levels with varying heights and obstacles, including a canyon level, a forest area, and a cityscape.
Each mobile suit has a main ranged weapon and a secondary melee weapon. While you have to keep an eye on your energy level, once you die, you're automatically respawned onto the map with a fraction of your original health. The first team to completely lose its collective health loses. The game was previously supposed to make its way onto the Dreamcast later on this year, but Bandai officials were unavailable to comment on whether or not that's still the case.
