In my last Super Bowl blog entry, I made a call for someone to top the trash-talking abilities of kiwiman69, whose account of the ancient Roman Empire's 37 "New England Patriots" nations set a high bar for the entire week. Little did I know that he'd be topped in a matter of hours by Pats fan masterchief80, whose adventurous tale of the I.E.D.C.A.C.A.I. (Interstellar Earth Defense Cosmos Alliance Counter Alien Insurgency) includes dialogue, a sci-fi setting, and a great punch line. The balls back in your court, Giants fan. Think you can top that?

　　In Super Bowl Showdown news, the SportsGamer folks have opened up a dominant 3-0 lead on the GameSpot guys in our just-for-fun Madden NFL 08 contest. GameSpot's Master_Shane put up a valiant fight against SportsGamer's Nvincible who, unfortunately for Master_Shane, lived up to his nickname. The game ended up at 36-28, with Nvincible scoring 24 points in the first half alone and playing a game that saw him move the ball on the ground and in the air with equal ease (212 yards rushing, 151 passing). Master_Shane put all his eggs in the passing game, racking up 311 yards in the air and scoring all four of his touchdowns off of passing plays, but it wasn't enough.

　　In the other game, our very own DouglasBuffone took on SportsGamer's McLovin in a game that unfortunately wasn't nearly as competitive. McLovin ended up beating Doug 51-0, getting 335 total yards and giving SportsGamer a commanding lead in this week-long tournament. At this point, it seems GameSpot players are simply playing for pride. If GameSpot will find redemption it will be via Aaron Thomas, who's going to have to single-handedly hoist the site on his shoulders and return GameSpot to sports respectability. No pressure, Aaron.
