Namco's latest weapon-based fighting game is currently on test in select arcade locations. Titled Soul Calibur, the game is a sequel to Soul Edge (called Soul Blade on the PlayStation).
It carries a similar fighting system to the first games and at least two SE characters are currently in it, namely Sophitia and Voldo. The game also utilizes ARS (Advanced Running System), which allows for great 3D movement. It runs on the System 12 arcade board, which increases its frame rate and improves its graphics over the original.
Namco could not be reached at press time for comment. It is unknown when the final version will hit arcades, or if home versions are currently in the works.
