Activision was present at Sony's press event today in San Francisco. The company was showing off a build of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 with online enabled. The game features support for up to eight players. Activision had the game set up with two machines in San Francisco, one of which was running the game server, and six more at the company's Southern California headquarters. The game ran smoothly, with very little noticeable lag.
The final game will feature new game modes, but Activision isn't ready to reveal what those are just yet. Like Tony Hawk 3, the game features trick attack, graffiti, king of the hill, and slap. New this year is the ability to play team games. The server can turn on team mode and support anywhere from two to four different teams. Team selection is handled in-game--colored flags are put up in a central part of the level, and you simply skate up to one of the flags to join that team. There are a couple more server options this time around as well, such as the ability to set the maximum number of observers allowed in the game.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 is scheduled for release this November.
