Get ready for some big news PlayStation fans, because Sony’s next “State of Play” show drops this coming Tuesday (September 24). For those out of the loop, State of Play is essentially Sony’s take on the Nintendo Direct format. So far there’s only been two State of Play shows, and neither have included any huge announcements, but Sony is promising this one will be “pretty hefty.” Here’s what PlayStation social media director Sid Shuman had to say about the upcoming show:

We’re preparing a pretty hefty show, weighing in at around 20 minutes and sporting a fresh new look. And we’ll have some great news to share with you, including new game reveals, new content from PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios, and a host of other updates. Should be fun! Oh, and it probably bears mentioning --don’t expect any updates related to our next-gen plans in this episode.

Sadly, nothing new about the PS5, but there’s a good chance we’re going to get some fresh information and trailers for Sony’s big upcoming games, including The Last of Us Part II. Last month, a rumor went around that the next State of Play would focus Death Stranding, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and The Last of Us Part II, with TLOU2 finally getting a firm May 2020 release date. A TLOU2 media event has been announced for the same day as the State of Play, with the scuttlebutt being attendees will get to experience several hours of gameplay.

  And...here....we.....go! See you later this month @Naughty_Dog @Neil_Druckmann pic.twitter.com/LL6RZVbJc1

It’s also been confirmed that The Last of Us Part II will be present in some form at Madrid Games Week in October. So yeah, nothing is confirmed, so take all this with a grain of salt, but everything seems to be falling into place. I’d say it’s quite likely we get a The Last of Us Part II trailer and release date next week.

What are you hoping to see from next week’s State of Play? Will we get that TLOU2 release date? Might Sony have some surprises up their sleeves?
