Sonic Origins Plus Launches This June On PC And Consoles; To Feature Additional Bug Fixes And Improvements-December 2024
Dec 21, 2024 12:20 PM

One year after the release of the original version of the collection, SEGA confirmed that Sonic Origins Plus will speed its way to PC and consoles later this year, complete with plenty of new content that will make it the definitive classic Sonic the Hedgehog collection.

The new version of the collection, which will release on June 23 on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, will include, alongside the content found in the base game and released DLC, 12 Game Gear games, Classic Amy playable in the first three entries in the series and Sonic CD, and Knuckles as playable character in Sonic CD. The additional content of the Plus version will also be available via the Expansion Pack for owners of the original release.

Alongside the new content, it has been confirmed with an update on the Sonic Origins Plus official Japanese website, as reported by TailsChannel on Twitter, that the collection will also include additional fixes based on players' feedback.

The official Japanese #SonicOrigins microsite, newly refreshed for Origins Plus, has mentioned that the upcoming update applied a few bugfixes, though the extent of those fixes has yet to be known. #SonicNews https://t.co/UXwLHYxq0v

The original version of the collection was riddled with quite a few issues at launch, so it is nice to learn that the experience will be further refined in Sonic Origins Plus. All these additions should make the collection the one that should have been at launch, as bugs and lack of content were among the game's biggest issues, as highlighted by Nathan in his review.

Sonic Origins Plus launches worldwide on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on June 23rd, 2023.
