Some Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Players Have A Giant Day-One Patch If They Preloaded Their Game-September 2024
Sep 22, 2024 8:20 PM

It looks like some Star Wars Jedi: Survivor players will need to download a massive patch after installing their game.

Jedi: Survivor launched today on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and for those who did previously preload their game more than a few days ago leading up to the release date may find that they'll also need to download the day one patch as well. If players are downloading the game after launch, they shouldn't run into any problems, unless you have a physical copy. However, some PC players are reporting that the day-one patch is up to 128GB (via IGN).

Cal’s newest journey in a galaxy far, far away has begun and we’re excited for you to experience it!

Our first patch will arrive on launch day across all platforms. In the weeks ahead, we’ll deploy patches that will:

  - Improve performance

EA confirmed in a recent Tweet that the day-one patch would focus on performance issues across all platforms, while a series of smaller patches were released ahead of launch throughout the week. It's possible that the reason for certain players experiencing larger file sizes could be due to the time they preloaded, therefore missing out on certain patches.

IGN reported that its day-one Jedi: Survivor patch on PC came in at 46.5GB, so other players' file sizes may vary depending on when and if they preloaded the game before launch. On PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, it should be a smoother experience as the download files aren't as big as on PC. We checked the day-one patch file size for Xbox Series X and found that since we installed and preloaded the game earlier in the week, there was no issue.

Players with a physical edition of the game will require a download on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in order to play. PC players will also need 155GB of free space in order to install their game.

In our Star Wars Jedi: Survivor review, Jordan Ramée said the game "improves upon its predecessor's gameplay and storytelling to deliver an engrossing story of a Jedi grappling with morality."
