With the release of NES Remix 2 this week, Nintendo will have developed two remixed compilations of classic games originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System. NES games are hardly the only ones that lend themselves to being remixed, though, and it's possible games for the Super Nintendo or Game Boy Advance could be next--but the prospect of a GBA Remix or SNES Remix will be dependent on fan demand.

"If we get a big enough cry for that, with a lot of people saying, 'Hey, we'd love to see more of these perhaps for the SNES, Game Boy, or Game Boy Advance,' then it would be something we can take a look at," NES Remix director Koichi Hayashida told IGN. He also stated he has "a large desire to explore that very idea."

NES and Game Boy games have been on Nintendo's Virtual Console service for some time. Game Boy Advance games, on the other hand, only recently became available for sale, albeit exclusively on the Wii U.

According to Hayashida, fan support could also encourage Nintendo to explore the possibility of including classic third-party games in future Remix releases. (Everything in the first two NES Remix games was created by Nintendo.) He didn't offer any additional details on the prospect of this, although considering it would require the cooperation of third-party publishers, the possibility of this is not entirely up to Nintendo.

The original NES Remix was released in December, with the sequel set to be released this Friday, April 25. Both are available only on the Wii U--something we recently learned was due to a need for more system power than the 3DS could easily provide.
