With Gran Turismo 5's popularity rising across Asia, it's no surprise to see Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong pull off an official contest within the region using the driving simulator as a platform. The official Gran Turismo 5 Asia Tournament finals were recently held at the Taipei Game Show 2011 in Taiwan on February 19.

Patrick Ng, the Singapore representative, won a Gran Turismo 5 trophy and US$3,000, which was presented by producer Kazunori Yamauchi. He clocked in an impressive time of 7:55:281, with Ting-Shan Lo from Taiwan coming in second with 7:55:888 on the clock and Seon Hong Lee from Korea placing third with 8:01:339.
The Asia tournament started last year in December and was held in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Korea, and Taiwan.
