Sekiro Shadows Die Twice New Mod Adds Bloodborne Inspired Mechanics
Sekiro Shadows Die Twice New Mod Adds Bloodborne Inspired Mechanics-October 2024
Oct 19, 2024 8:49 PM

A new Sekiro Shadows Die Twice mod has been recently released online, introducing some combat tweaks that make the game play more like others developed by From Software.

The Sekiro Shadows Die Twice Bloodborne combat mod radically changes the way the game is played, as it introduces combat mechanics from Bloodborne, such as invincibility frames while dashing, the ability to restore more health by healing immediately after taking damage and more.

This challenge mod tries to answer the question "what if Sekiro enemies were copy-pasted into Bloodborne?" from inside of Sekiro. While the combat is simplified, it is also different in some interesting ways - and with different tools at your disposal, you can learn new muscle memory and form new strategies. There is still vitality and posture, and you still have infinite stamina, but your combat capabilities have changed to be more like Bloodborne as follows:

  - Use dash to prevent damage - block/deflect does not prevent damage. (This is the point of the mod - it makes some bosses easier and others harder. You really do need to approach it like Bloodborne.)

  - Use dash instead of jump to dodge sweep attacks

  - Use dash instead of Mikiri counter to avoid thrust attacks

  - Remove perilous attack alerts

  - Rally back your health after taking damage by dealing vitality damage to an enemy

Sekiro Shadows Die Twice is yet another excellent game developed by From Software, but it's quite different from the Souls series.

You can tell From Software was happy to try something a little different with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The game has a few mechanical issues, which can largely be chalked up to new series jitters, but its energy and excitement mostly make up for its flaws. Yes, Sekiro can be downright sadistic at times, but those with the bushido (or plain old stubbornness) to face its challenges will have a bloody good time.

Sekiro Shadows Die Twice is now available in all regions on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
