The Yuzu Nintendo Switch emulator is one impressive piece of software that is often capable of running games developed for the Nintendo console right at launch, as was the case for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Just being able to run these games, however, is often not enough, as the emulator allows modders to go wild and come up with impressive improvements for both new and old games, such as Luigi's Mansion 3.
A new video shared on YouTube by reznoire showcases the latest entry in the series running at steady 120 frames per second on Yuzu Early Access 3592 thanks to a mod. What makes this showcase impressive is not only the steady performance but also the fact that the game can now run at four times the vanilla version's framerate, which is locked at 30 frames per second.
It isn't just Luigi's Mansion 3 that can be played at smoother framerates thanks to the Yuzu emulator. In another video, reznoire showcases the more recent Kirby and the Forgotten Land, which can run at steady 60 FPS with a mod. The vanilla game runs at 30 frames per second.
As the Yuzu Nintendo Switch emulator continues to get updated, we should expect to see even more games running at higher framerates in the future. As for now, the emulator can already run The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which was only launched last week, at 60 FPS at decent performance, so the day when we will see the game run at 120 FPS may not be too far off in the future.
The Yuzu Nintendo Switch emulator can be downloaded from its official website.
