Sega Sets Sakura Up for TGS
Sega Sets Sakura Up for TGS-October 2024
Oct 18, 2024 10:17 PM

While Sega struggles with the period between the old and new system, there's always room for a hit or two to give the loyal fans something to be proud of.

At this year's Tokyo Game Show (which begins tomorrow in Japan), Sega is betting that Sakura Taisen 2 will be one blockbuster game for 1998. Reportedly devoting a good majority of its booth to the game, Sega hopes that gamers who attend the show during the two public days of the show will be impressed with the title. Sega reportedly expects to sell over a million units of the title, which will be available beginning in April.

Aside from that title, additional Sega games will also have a star-studded presence at TGS tomorrow, including a new Shogi title, which, much like the US title Battle Chess, will be character-based. Reportedly, the characters will be drawn by a popular Japanese artist (we'll find out tomorrow exactly who that is), adding to interest in the title.

Another game Sega hopes has blockbuster potential is Deep Fear, which looks like an Abyss meets Resident Evil-type game - complete with rendered cinemas. We won't know exactly what gameplay looks like until tomorrow, but it's being billed as the title Sega will push hard this summer.

Other games taking up shop in the Makuhari Messe include The House of the Dead and the second scenario of Shining Force III.
