Although most western gamers probably won't see this game in English, Sega is hyping up its new Saturn horror title, Deep Fear. The story line goes as follows:

　　There is an U.S. Navy supply base for a submarine called Big Table in Mariana Trench. While refueling the nuclear Submarine Sea Fox, the ship suddenly went out of control and crashed into a top secret Navy Area in the base. To make matters worse, the ship launched a torpedo and destroyed the air supply system.

　　Big Table's Commander in Chief, Colonel Clancy, ordered a private rescue team called ESR to rescue Navy's VIP, high profile Doctor Weisberg from the Navy Area.

　　When John Mayer, a member of ESR, reaches the scene of the accident, he sees a heavily damaged facility and numerous casualties. During his investigation, one of the dying survivors says, "Kill me, please" and then turns into a monster and attacks Mayer.

　　Now the base is filled with unknown monsters and John is trapped inside. The sea water floods into the base, and the air supply is limited. Can he survive the situation?

　　We saw a promo video of the game, and although it had no actual gameplay footage, judging from what we observed and read, the game sounds like a deep-sea version of Resident Evil. And the plot vaguely reminds us of the John Carpenter movie The Thing.

　　We sincerely hope that the game will be as interesting as it sounds. Deep Fear for the Sega Saturn is slated for a Japanese release this summer.
