Sega of America has announced that it has lowered the suggest retail price of its Dreamcast console from $79.95 to $49.95. For the price of a game on competing consoles, consumers can own the Dreamcast and have access to a library of more than 200 games, which include popular titles such as Soul Calibur, Skies of Arcadia, Phantasy Star Online, and games in the Sega Sports lineup.

　　"At a $49.95 price point, Dreamcast is an even better value this holiday season with a sack full of great games to choose from," said Chris Gilbert, executive vice president of sales, marketing, and operations at Sega of America. "Sega's strength is games, and the lower price point makes it even easier for consumers to enjoy the Sega gaming experience."

　　"Video game consoles are sure to be a big seller at Toys "R" Us over the coming months," said Wayne Yodzio, vice president of Toys "R" Us. "For less than $50.00, Dreamcast is a great value this holiday season."

　　Sega hopes to sell its remaining inventory of Dreamcast consoles, which has now dwindled into the thousands, by the end of the year.
