Netflix has released a new featurette for its upcoming drama show in which Drew Barrymore plays a character who likes to eat people and is happier because of it.
Barrymore plays Sheila Hammond, who, along with her husband Joel (Timothy Olyphant), struggles to find happiness in her life as a real estate agent. Something happens to Sheila and one day she starts to enjoy the taste of human flesh. Her life improves in many ways because of this. She doesn't want to go back to the way things were, so, along with her family, she finds people to kill and eat, all while concealing her true identity as some kind of zombie/cannibal person.
"It's about a relationship where this bomb has been dropped and how to deal with that," creator and writer Victor Fresco says.
The Santa Clarita Diet takes place in the Los Angeles suburb Santa Clarita, which is where the name comes from.
The show premieres on Netflix on February 3. The series also features Patton Oswalt, Nathan Fillion, and Andy Richter.
