Warner Bros. Entertainment today announced plans to make a financial investment in SCi Entertainment Group, the parent company of game publisher Eidos, to the tune of 10 percent of SCi's worth. The deal will go into effect once SCi shareholders approve it.
As part of the agreement, Eidos gains the rights to make games based on several WB properties, including the comic-book version of Batman, Looney Tunes, and the television show The OC. Eidos will also make games based on the Hanna-Barbera catalog (Yogi Bear, The Flintstones, and others), as well as the animated programs Loonatics Unleashed and Legion of Super Heroes.
In addition, Warner Bros. will also aid in the distribution of Eidos-published games. The media giant will provide North American warehousing, merchandising services, and more to Europe-based SCi. All other game operations will continue to be handled by the US branch of Eidos.
