GQ Magazine's report on esports featured Team Dignitas owner, Michael 'ODEE' O'Dell, offering a rare insight into the economics of a top esports team. This comes after controversies over income among League of Legends professionals.

O'Dell commented on Team Dignitas players' salaries, stating:

Our American League Of Legends players receive a basic salary of $50,000. Our star LoL player, Scarra [William Li] will probably earn $200,000 this year.

  O'Dell went on to say:

Imaqtpie [Michael Santana] earned about $8,000 in streaming money in a recent month.

Of that $8,000, Santana will keep every penny. Utilizing streaming platforms, like Twitch.TV in Santana's case, is allowing professional players to earn more money than ever. In fact, Twitch.TV was listed fourth in U.S peak traffic by The Wall Street Journal.

Team Dignitas has come a long way since acquiring their first sponsorship deal of £11,000 [$18,301 USD] in 2006. Now, they are on track to earn one million pounds [$1,665,900 USD] this year.
